YAZA

Young Artist Zine Alliance (YAZA) is free program for high school students to come together for their interest of pursuing their art, exploring zine culture (how ideas can be independently distributed to a wider audience), and collaborating to create their own zine. We engage in creative activities, explore various art making techniques and how we express ourselves through our art. We also meet practicing artists and creative professionals from a variety of career paths who share their perspectives and provide insight into the nuances of the art world and the possibilities for our young artists’ futures.

This opportunity allows teens to connect with other artists, build a creative community, participate in brave space discussions as well as display a final zine at the conclusion of the program. YAZA is an alliance of us as art educators, student's and professional artists, all coming together to find our voices through art, and dream big for where art will take us.
YAZA is supported by the Art Education Department of the City College of New York.
